A Dance with Death Erik Soto
Cloak of nightmares,
Mother of all darkness,
Dwindling into the fears of guilt-ridden sinners.
Into the dreams of those who ache misery
With every movement of the bones.
You play with my mind at the mist of midnight,
To remind me of the times where I enjoyed
Dancing with your temptation.
With the idea of rendering my life
To be one with the shadows.
To be apart of the hazy, dark horizon
Falling with the cold whispering of the night.
You wanted me to trade my pain
For a waltz with you,
For a kiss with you,
For an infinite life
In the chambers of soft spoken gloom,
Sung in a sorrowed lullaby.
You wanted to stop my cries
With one premature goodbye,
But I couldn’t
I didn’t
I was too weak to even hold a dance with you
Too broken to fall in love with your gloom.
So I trade my dance
For another chance to get back up into the light. Lover of all ends,
Mistress of hollow pain,
You come into my thoughts
To remind me that our romance,
Is a promise of my delirious fate.
